Anthony R. Recchia , 79, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Raritan where he resided most of his life, he formerly lived in Lebanon before moving to Hampstead, N.C. five years ago. Anthony served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947 attaining the rank of Quartermaster Third Class. Mr. Recchia began his working career as a machine shop supervisor at RCA Corporation in Bridgewater where he worked for 25 years. He then owned and operated A.R. Machine Company of Hillsborough for eleven years. He most recently was a machine shop supervisor for D.R. Kenyon & Sons of Branchburg for ten years until retiring in 2002. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's R.C. Church of Raritan. Anthony was an avid gardener and an accomplished handyman who enjoyed doing many chores. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lillian Yurek Recchia in 2003 and a sister, Carmela Tasnady. Surviving are his beloved son, Jim Recchia, of Clinton, his loving sisters, Angie Dorsi, and husband, David, of Stirling, Virginia D'Onofrio, and husband, John, of Bound Brook and Rose Ciattarelli of Whitehouse and a brother, Phillip Recchia and wife, Rosalie of Newbern, N.C. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin with a prayer on Friday at 8:45 AM from Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, followed by 9:30 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 16 E. Somerset Street, Raritan. Interment will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater. Visitation hours will be Thursday from 4 to7 PM at the funeral home.
