Anna Eelman (nee Schulze), 77, of Raritan, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at RWJ Somerset. Born in Hackensack, NJ, Anna grew up in Nutley, NJ. She later on moved to North Plainfield where she lived for nearly 40 years before relocating to Raritan, NJ. Anna graduated from Nutley High School and attended Farleigh Dickinson University. She liked to write and had a number of magazine articles published over the years as well as doing newsletters for a Christian Singles group, The National Feedsack Club, and the Harvest Quilters Organization. Anna worked in local businesses such as Sears Roebuck and Wigton Abbott Corp and most recently for over 20 years at Plainfield Consultation Center. She was program coordinator at the YWCA of Plainfield in the 1980s where she began an annual quilt show and the Harvest Quiters group which she ran for more than 30 years and which still meets regularly in the area. In 1972 while a member of Hydewood Park Baptist Church she began an adult singles ministry and coordinated that program there for 18 years. She has been a member at North Branch Reformed Church for nearly 10 years. She hated to be idle and even when relaxing had a needle, book, or crossword puzzle in hand. She loved reading about the America Indians and the pioneer women of America. She loved Canada as evidenced in the verse of her favorite poet, Robert Service. She claimed she was never bored as life was too full of interesting things and people, and there was so much to do and learn in the world. She also loved movies and attended the theater regularly with friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Stephanie Elizabeth Csaposs (1970) and Herman Paul Schulze (1983), her first husband, George Alan Converse (1972), her second husband, Anton Eelman (2011), a brother Walter Schulze (2010), and her son, Bret Eric Converse (2014). She dearly loved her friends and family and is survived by her children, Dawn (Richard) Converse-Fedison of New Providence, Jess (Joanne) Converse of Whittier, CA, and Luke (Heidi) Eelman of Bridgewater. Five grandchildren also survive, Zachary and Dylan Troutman of New Providence, NJ, Skylar and Hunter Eelman of Bridgewater, and Jet Converse of Whittier, CA. Special friends she had for more than 50 and 60 years were Suzanne DuBois of Hanover, NH, Bertha Saho of Georgia, Pat Mills of Honduras, Central America, Margot Kennedy of Georgia, Kathy Spicer of NJ, and Robbie and Lefty Ward, of AZ. She reached out regularly to special cousins (some in Canada and Germany), in-laws, nieces, and nephews and made quilts for all of these folks as well as for charities and people who had lost belongings in natural disasters all over the world. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to North Branch Reformed Church, 203 NJ-28, Bridgewater, NJ 08807-1918. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
