Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Harold Phillips Branchburg, NJ Andrew "Andy" Harold Phillips, 81, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Somerset Woods Nursing Home after a brief illness. Andrew was born in Newark, NJ on June 20, 1938 at Beth Israel Hospital. After graduating from Union High School, he attended college at Newark College of Engineering where he received his bachelor's degree and Steven's Institute of Technology where he received his master's degree in Chemical Engineering. He also received his MBA in pharmaceutical marketing from Farleigh Dickenson University. Andrew worked after college at John's Manville, where he met his wife Nancy. For a large part of his Chemical Engineer career, he worked 22 years at Merck and Co. in Rahway, NJ. He officially retired in 1999. Andrew was a member of the Somerville Area Jaycees, Branchburg Board of Education, Branchburg Planning Board, and Branchburg Zoning Commission and Environmental Commission. He also was a Branchburg Boys Scout assistant leader, Branchburg Little League assistant coach, and was involved in the Branchburg Soccer League. Andrew's hobbies included gardening, fishing, boating, wood working, doing home projects, was an avid Yankee fan, traveling, spending time on Long Beach Island, and visiting Alaska. He especially loved going on cruises with his family to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, as well as traveling to all 50 states and all 7 Continents. Family was the most important thing in his life, and he cherished spending time and vacationing with his grandchildren. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Theresa and Andrew Phillips; a brother, Joseph, and a sister, Lorraine. Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Nancy Adamchak Phillips; three dear sons, Bob of Whitehouse Station, NJ, David of Branchburg, NJ, and Michael and wife Cristina of Washington Crossing, PA; two loving daughters, Michele and husband Maroun Mezher of Fairfax, VA, and Patricia and husband Patrick Vidal of Pohatcong, NJ; his brother, Alan and wife Elaine of Florida; his sister, Evelyn and husband Robert Landolfi of Plattsburgh, NY; twelve cherished grandchildren, Nabil, Michael, James, Monique, Melissa, Nicole, Patrick, Andrew, Emily, Stephen, Allison, Katherine; and one adored great-grandchild, Maroun. Viewing will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4-8pm and Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 10-11am with an 11am prayer service at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Committal is private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The National Brain Tumor Society, The Glioblastoma Foundation, or The American Brain Tumor Association.
