Andrew J. Marino, Sr., 91, of Fairfield, NJ, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022. Born in New York, NY, Andrew resided in Brooklyn for 43 years before moving to Fairfield in 1974.
Andrew graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn and received his Associates Degree from City University of New York in 1951. Mr. Marino went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 as a Radar Engineer and continued his service in the Army Reserves. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for Burroughs Corporation as a field technician until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Marino loved gardening, especially tending to his roses. He enjoyed Sudoku puzzles and watching the New York Yankees. Andrew was a problem solver; there was not a challenge he could not resolve. He enjoyed home projects and had a tool for every job. Andrew had a strong work ethic and he passed that on to his sons and grandchildren as well. He was a patient man, and always set a good example. The one thing Andrew enjoyed the most was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Filomena Marino (nee Gallotta) of 59 years, three dear sons and daughters-in-law: Ben and his wife Kathleen of Branchburg, NJ; Michael and his wife Mary of Long Valley, NJ; Andrew Jr. and his wife Joanne of Fairfield, NJ; and six cherished grandchildren: Kaitlin and her fiancé Kurt Strittmatter, Brendan, Bryan, Gabriella, Catherine and Andrew III.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angelina Marino and his brother, Benjamin.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 3 to 8pm at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home at 7 Two Bridges Road Fairfield, NJ 07004.
A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 9:15am. Funeral mass will take place at 10am at St. Thomas More R.C. Church in Fairfield, NJ. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover, NJ.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Branchburg Funeral Home.
