Alvin W. Mottern
, 54, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013. Born in Tampa, FL, he resided in Bound Brook for 30 years.
Mr. Mottern was the owner of Central Jersey Volleyball Academy in Flemington, which he founded ten years ago.
Al was a member of Bridgewater United Methodist Church in Bridgewater.
He was an avid Yankee fan and volleyball player and coach. Al also coached baseball, softball and volleyball for his children. He enjoyed fishing, exercising and spending quality time with his family, especially his children.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Thelma Mottern and his brother, Charles.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 30 years, Kym Derleth Mottern; his daughter, Chelsea Mottern of Bound Brook; his son, Daniel Mottern, at home; his brother, Richard Mottern of Tampa, FL; his two sisters, Dahlia Mottern of Tampa, FL and Sandra Hobbs of Melbourne, FL; several nieces and nephews; and his two cats, Lily and Darcy.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 7 PM at Bridgewater United Methodist Church, 651 Country Club Road, Bridgewater. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638
