Alphonse Angelo Rizzo, 98, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at RWJ Hospital in Somerville, NJ. Born in Hazleton, PA, in 1922, Alphonse resided in Bridgewater for the last 52 years.
Alphonse enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1942 and proudly served his country during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign involving numerous islands. Subsequent to the war, he worked at American Cyanamid and Devro Corp. while operating his own electrical contracting business until he retired in 2008.
Alphonse was a very active member of St Bernard Church in Bridgewater and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golf, working on model trains, enjoyed gardening and helped out anyone any way that he could. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Carlo and Louise Rizzo. His loving wife of 40 years, Doris Rizzo (2007), Two sisters, Theresa Muzzoline, Carmela Evencho, and two brothers, Luciano and Carl Rizzo.
Surviving are his three loving daughters Donna and husband Robert Zions of Palm Bay, FL; Carla and husband Steve Kilburn of Smithville, TN ; Amy and husband Glenn Amatucci of Peapack, NJ; four dear sons, Richard and wife Jennifer Rizzo of Woodbridge, VA; Raymond and wife Lois Rizzo of Franklin, TN; Tony and Barbara Rizzo of Zephyr Hills FL; Robert Rizzo of Ocala, FL; one brother, Robert and wife Marie Rizzo of Hazleton, PA; one sister Genevieve and husband Mike Longo of Hazleton, PA; 12 cherished grandchildren, Keith, Jason, Scott, Robert, Ashley, Deanna, Danielle, Lindsay, Alicia, Christina, Anthony, and Marissa, and two great grandchildren, Octavia and Lyric.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 3-7pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 Rt. 202 South Branchburg, NJ 08876.
A prayer service will take place on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 9:15am at the Branchburg Funeral Home. A funeral mass will begin at 10 am at St. Bernard's R. C. Church and entombment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, both located in Bridgewater, NJ.
