Alice E. Lesh of Raritan, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 22, at home surrounded by her loving husband Bob and dog Bodhi. Born in Montclair, NJ, Alice lived in the Syracuse, NY area for 29 years and 19 years in Mountain View, CA, before moving back east to Raritan 5 months ago to be near family.
Alice graduated from Passaic Valley High School and Seton Hall University with degree in elementary education. She later attained an MS degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Syracuse University. She taught 3rd grade in the Newark Public School System before getting married to her husband Bob of 48 years and later worked in local store marketing for McDonalds and then started her own catering business for 3 years. Alice was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis prior to her marriage and had to eventually give up the catering. However, never one to quit, she then enrolled in the Rehabilitation Therapy program at Syracuse University and received her MS in 1989. She then worked as a rehab counselor and job coach at BOCES in Liverpool, NY for the next 5 years.
Cooking was Alice's passion and in addition to the catering she enjoyed entertaining at home and events at her church - United Church of Christ Bayberry in Liverpool, NY where she and her husband Bob were members for 25 years. She was also active as a children's Sunday School teacher and in the Women's Fellowship group. After moving to California in 2002, she became very active in the local MS support group, the Adaptive Physical Education Class at DeAnza College and socializing at Cuesta Park while walking and watching the dogs play.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gedney and Alice McCormick, brother Jerome, sister Lolita and son Robert Jr.(Bobby).
Surviving are her loving husband Bob of 48 years, daughter Erin and grand-daughters Vivian and Eloise of Redwood City, CA, and brother Gedney of Manahawkin, NJ, as well as 12 nieces and nephews.
