Joan Morehouse Melitsky
became an angel in heaven on Thursday, December 31, 2009. Joan was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on December 12, 1946, daughter of Harold and Veronica Morehouse. Joan bravely battled leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer for the last eleven months. Her courage in facing this disease has been an inspiration for us all.
Joan was a graduate of Bridgewater Raritan High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University. She was employed as a dental hygienist by Drs. Pullen, Peterson, and Brower of Belle Mead for over 30 years.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her close circle of friends but her spirit touched the lives of all those who knew her. Some of Joan's favorite past times were quilting and crafts for which she had a natural talent. Traveling with her family throughout the United States was another of her favorite activities.
Joan is survived by her husband Jack of 41 years. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Owen and husband, Bryan, of Chesnee, SC and son, John Melitsky, of Stewartsville, NJ. Joan also leaves behind her mother, Veronica Morehouse, of Raritan, her sister, Carol Boughner and husband, Robert, of Bridgewater, mother-in-law, Victoria Melitsky and sister-in-law, Joyce Melitsky of Raritan.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
