Elizabeth Mecca Russ , 91, died Thursday, November 01, 2007 at her residence. Born in Somerville, she resided there for 70 years before moving to Three Bridges 21 years ago. She worked as a floor supervisor for the former Red Fern Lace Works of Somerville for 50 years until retiring in 1971. Mrs. Russ was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Somerville. She was an avid reader who enjoyed sewing and traveling, especially taking trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She took great pride in her flower garden. Elizabeth loved spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James McCooe, Sr. in 1960 and her second husband of 38 years, Raymond J. Russ in 2001. Surviving are her loving daughter, Pam McCooe of Three Bridges, her loving son, James McCooe and wife, June, of Easton, PA, nine grandchildren, Mark, Jimmy, Michael, Donna, Gerry, Greg, Gino, Ryan and Cody, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin with a prayer on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ, 08876 followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, 35 Mountain Ave., Somerville. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Somerville. Visitation hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
