Edward Alvaro , 82, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born February 10, 1927 in Bayonne to his late parents, Ramond and Margaret Alvaro, he resided in Bradley Gardens before moving to Branchburg 25 years ago. He served in the Navy during World War II, was a past member of the Bradley Gardens Fire Company, past Fire Chief of the Country Hills Fire Company in Bridgewater and a past member of the Somerville Hook and Ladder Company. Edward retired in 1975 from the Public Service Electric and Gas Company, after 35 years with their installation and repairs department. He is survived by his son, Lance of New Mexico, his daughters, Nancy of New Mexico and Susan of California, his grandson, Justin Miller and granddaughter, Amber Alvaro Scarponi, his sister, Dolores Johnson and husband, Ernest, and nieces, Valorie Johnson and husband, Craig Randolph and Lynn Johnson. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 US Highway 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876 (908) 526-7638. There will be no immediate calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Branchburg Funeral Home.
