Obituary

Joseph Petran
Bridgewater, NJ

Joseph Petran, 95, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was raised in Linden, NJ where he resided for most of his life before moving to Toms River, then later to Bridgewater.
Mr. Petran was a member of the US Army where he served in 101st Airborne Division, as a Paratrooper, in the Battle of Normandy Beach.
Joe was employed by Exxon Refineries as a ship blender for many years, before his retirement in 1983.
Joe was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. He enjoyed being in several bowling leagues throughout his life, and was especially proud and known for his fabulous vegetable garden. While visiting his daughter at the Jersey Shore, some of his favorite past times were boating, crabbing, and taking trips to Atlantic City. Another great passion of Joe’s was his love for animals, especially dogs and cats, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to all. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Agnes Kaufmann Petran of 29 years; his second wife of 31 years, Helen Berry Petran; a brother, Louis; three sisters, Helen, Irene, and Elsie; a son-in-law, Brian Crisafulli; and a step-son, William Berry.
Surviving are his two daughters, Kathleen “Kathy” Petran of Manahawkin, NJ, and Joanne Crisafulli of Branchburg, NJ, his step-daughter, Lorraine Kaplan of Piscataway, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
