Anthony Tracchio, 77, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home. Born in Ozone Park Queens, NY, he was a resident of Carteret for 13 years before moving to Branchburg 42 years ago.
Mr. Tracchio served in the US Army from 1957-1959. During his service to his Country, he was active in the 36th Field Battalion Artillery, First Howitzar Division while stationed in Germany.
He was a former member of the Raritan PAL, the Star of Italy Hall, the Immaculata Spartan Club, and the Somerset County Bowling League. He worked for many years on the Festa committee, coached Raritan Little League, and received a plaque from the Branchburg Police Department for his service as McGruff the Crime Stopping Dog.
Anthony was an avid Giants, Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, and Rutgers fan. He also had a great passion for NASCAR. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning vegetables with his close family friend, entertaining friends, tailgating with family and friends at Giants games, making wine every year with another close family friend, and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He always made everyone feel at home and loved. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Carmela and Joseph Tracchio and his loving grandson Nicholas Anthony.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Durik Tracchio; 2 dear sons, Anthony and wife Betsy of Cumming, Georgia and Richard and wife Mary of Macungie, PA; 2 loving daughters, Ann and husband Robert Farrigan of Whitehouse Station, NJ, and Gina and husband Frank Loschiavo of Raritan, NJ; his wonderful sister, Christine Angott of Linden, NJ; and 13 cherished grandchildren, Alexandra, Caitlin, Benjamin, Robert, Tara, Jessie, Gabrielle, Isabelle, Mitchell, Kimberly, Richard, Carmela, and Paolo.
Viewing will be held Friday, February 03, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Saturday, February 04, 2017 from 9:45-10:15 am beginning with a prayer at 10:15 followed by an 11:00 am funeral liturgy at St. Ann R.C. Church 45 Anderson Street Raritan, NJ 08869.
Entombment will follow at the Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Basking Ridge.
